Abstract

Cardiovascular disease is a disorder of the heart and blood vessels that causes the highest death rate in the world. The incidence of heart failure in the world reaches more than 20 million people per year, while the death rate of heart failure reaches 17.5 million people per year. The patient's quality of life can be affected by several factors such as: age, education, occupation, gender, disease condition, family support and previous education. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of providing health education to patients with Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) on the quality of life of patients at the hospital. Dr. M. Yunus, Bengkulu City in 2023. The type of research uses a quantitative method of experimental quasy design of one group. The sample in this study is 30 people using the purposive sampling technique. Data collection in this study used a WHOQOL questionnaire sheet. The results showed that the quality of life of the pretest was in the poor category with an average of 41.8176 after being given posttest health education interventions, there was an increase in the good category with an average of 52.5917. Tested using Wilcoxon (abnormally distributed), the test results were different that the probability/significance level was 0.000 (ρ value ≤ 0.01). Based on the research, it can be concluded that there are differences in the quality of life of CHF patients before and after being given health education so that it can be stated that the provision of health education has an effect on the quality of life of patients.
